Obviously this has been on hiatus for a while. I'm moving to DC in early January and plan on resuurrecting this photoblog...either here on a different place.
Stay Tuned.

Battleship Tour 2005
Chicago, IL
September 2005
Battleship are home from their European tour! If I hadn't been moving, I would've gotten to join them. Sucks for me, but it sounds like they had a great time.
Now that the Oakland lads are back in the States, they'll be playing a few shows on the East Coast before heading out West for a week of shows up and down the West Coast.
Welcome home boys!

I made a set of postcards of some of my band photos.
This is the first a series of photo postcards I'm doing. The next set will be...not band-related. Probably street photography, or maybe work from New Orleans.
Also, I'm sorry about slacking off on posting on here. I'm moving and have just been swamped (and not shooting nearly enough b/w).

I'm in New Orleans right now, shooting lots. When I get back (after New Orleans, West Virginia and then Austin for South By Southwest) I'm sure I'll have plenty of new b/w photos to post.
Until then, I've been posting digital stuff to my Flickr account.

Invitation to a Hanging: Alcatraz
Alcatraz Island
San Francisco, CA
It's been a while. Sorry about that. I've had my computer back for about a week and have been busy playing around with Flickr and trying to make sense of the mess of scanned images I have on my hard drives.
Related to this photo (and others I will be posting this week), Antonin Kratochvil has a new set of photos on the VII website on prison tourism at Robben Island. It's a subject I spent three years working on in the early 00's. Mine focuses on prison tourism in the US, but I had hoped to someday continue the project to include overseas prison sites such as Robben Island.

Short Eyes Tour
Vince & Alicja
7:30 a.m., after Vince cut his hand on a broken window, refused to go
to the hospital and Alicja tried--but was unable--to sew up the Vince's hand.

In an effort to make sense of the tour photos I have shot so far, I've done a tight edit of 12 images.
Comments and criticism are, as always, welcome and appreciated.
The captions need work, but more specifically I'm wondering what I'm missing. What kind of photo would you expect to see from a project on small punk bands on the road, playing basements, living rooms and small bars? Does it give you enough of a feeling of what it's like? Are there enough pieces of the tour to give you a sense of what happens? Is there anything from this that could be cut?
Fire away.
